This short story is about a man named Jerry. He is the driver a wagon. He takes you places safely and asks for money in return. One day he was viewing a wedding and one lady jumped into the wagon and wanted a ride. When Jerry asked where she was going, she responded, anywhere you wish. So he took her for a beautiful ride through the park. Within the park, there was a casino. He asked if she wanted to stop and she said yes so he did. She got out and got handed a number. When she walked in she went and got a beer. After 2 hours, she asked someone what the number was all about and they said its your number to get your cab back. So when she walked out side, her cab was waiting there for her. On the way out of the park, Jerry pulled over and ask "I want to see four dollars before goin' any further on th' thrip. Have ye got th' dough?". When she said she didn’t have that much, Jerry was furious. He used his language and took her to a building. He pulled her out of the cab and into the police station. Jerry knew the cops there well and when he said this lady needs to be arrested, he realized it was his own wife, Norah.
Jerry has been driving wagons so long he didn’t even recognize his own wife. Even though this it was written in 1919, we still hear the term “give me the dough” referring to money today.
Witches Loaves is a wonderful short story. This frail old lady owns her own bakery. And has a kind heart and only wants best for people. She notices that his one older man comes in two or three times a week and gets 2 stale loaves of bread. And feels bad for the ma, thinking he is a poor artist because of the ink on his hands. One day he comes in and she puts butter in between the bead, to make the stale bread taste a little better. Later that day the old man and a younger man come in. the old man is furious that there was butter in the bread. The younger man then explains to the old lady that he uses the bread crumbs to erase pencil lines in an architectural drawing. She realizes she did wrong and felt horrible.
This story really touched my heart. Sometimes you want to reach out to someone but don’t know how. And when you do, something goes wrong and what you wanted to accomplish, turned against you. Throughout the whole story, I felt as though the old lady was trying to do good and just help the old man out. Then she interprets wrong and everything fails.

I believe this video is completely true. I think the government is screwing the average American worker over and they don’t really care about what they doing to our lives; they’re selfish. We need to be cautious of what we do from day to day because it’s shaping how our world is going to be. Right now I don’t even want to think about how my kids will see the world we live in. There may not even be forests for our children to enjoy. No trees, no oxygen. No oxygen, no people. It’s a sad thing to think about that the planet as we know it may not even be a planet in a few years. This video really opens your eyes to things you may not even realize. Recycling is a good thing and we need to be more available to doing it. Americans need to change their priorities and focus on the world, instead of themselves.
Math makes my brain hurt,
All the numbers jumble together,
There’s this kid in my class named Curt,
I’m going to forget this forever.
Cosine over sine what?
The recycle bin is red.
I think this is all like a mutt.
I am so dead.
The teacher’s voice is full of care,
What we learn can be fun,
But it’s really a huge scare.
I feel so much like a nun.
The clock just keeps ticking.
Pencils keep being sharp.
I’m screaming and kicking.
None of this is even close to the sound of a harp.
When you read this poem you feel as though you are flying through the air and everything is peaceful and perfect. Nothing can go wrong. “And the waves tell the firm coast; ‘Everything will be fulfilled.’ ” When I hear that, I feel like I am sprawled out on the beach, loving life. It is a wonderful metaphor. This seems like one of the only poems that aren’t about loving someone but about loving the world around you and its beauty. Most of the other poems I read they were about a woman and her beauty, but this one is different.
